The foundation of Imam Reza Hospital was laid on a 28.5-hectare site, with construction commencing in 1928. By 1934, the hospital began operations with a variety of departments, including internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, pediatrics, infectious diseases, and more. Over the years, the facility has undergone substantial growth:

  • Early Developments: In 1945, the hospital saw the opening of its Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) building. By 1948, the capacity had increased to 250 beds.
  • Expansion: Today, the hospital operates with 856 beds, making it one of the largest general hospitals in the country.
